Joseph Mendler was born on this day, November  7, 1938 in Paris France. He lived in the 20th arrondissement with his parents in their home at 98 Boulevard du   Menilmontant.

During the German occupation of Paris during WWII, Joseph’s father was arrested and deported to Polond on Convoy No. 5.

Little Joseph, with his mother were arrested at their home and deported to Poland in Convoy No. 23.

Usually  Nazi camps would separate relatives but in this particular case, Joseph and his mother were together when they died in an Auschwitz gas chamber on August 24, 1942.

Little Joseph was three years old.  💙Don’t let him be forgotten, please plant a few blue cornflower seeds in your garden.

Image: Star of David was worn by all Jews during Holocaust.

My Spirit has adopted 4000 French children who were murdered.

They never had a chance to experience joys of childhood: being in a play, singing, dancing, taking simple photos of their kitten or puppy, making music, painting, sculpting, writing stories or celebrating birthdays with their friends.

The Blue Cornflower Project - Le Project Bluet Bleu

is an international art exhibit created September 6, 2023 in Paris, France by Chloe Dee Noble and will continue throughout the world with various venues and celebration until the SOLO Gallery Exhibition hosted by our “Man of the Hour”, gallery owner, GEORGI KOLEV of LESSEDRA GALLERY in Sofia, Bulgaria, during 1-31 May, 2025.

I chose Bulgaria as the geographical location to host these varied works for one simple reason. Of all the countries I researched while writing my books on the Holocaust, I personally found the Bulgarians to be the most supportive of the Jews. Just as I find them to be wonderful ambassadors of world peace the way they have stepped up to help the many who are suffering in the Ukraine.

I explain this to you for informative purposes, this exhibit is not about politics it is about celebrating the lives of the children.

The purpose of this project is to tell the world about these children, celebrate their names, celebrate their short lives and their loss.

It is also time for us to paint a clear picture: we will tolerate this no longer. We shall have peace on earth.

We have chosen the blue cornflower to help deliver our message and we plan to plant these flowers everywhere - covering OUR earth with blue - to continue OUR message.

Everyone is welcome to participate in this celebration. Create a group or club, join solo if you wish while you create art that includes at least one blue cornflower.

Our objective is to keep it simple, enjoy the process and to spread our message. BlindfoldPress.com will tell you what is currently happening and where you may participate.

This project is in infancy and as opportunities develop you will find the information there to explain all the details.

4000 Jewish children were arrested in Paris 16 July 1942, they were bussed to The Vélodrome d'Hiver - an indoor bicycle racing cycle track and stadium (velodrome) on rue Nélaton, not far from the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Here, they were processed and bussed to a holding center in Drancy, a town just outside of Paris and then were shipped to POLAND and to their death in Auschwitz.

Introduction:

It was in the shadows of La Tour Eiffel on the last day of September 2023 when I sat on the royal blue click-clack sofa bed in the furnished apartment I rented in Paris.

Crows were flying over chasing each other as the gentle breeze transformed itself with more quickly tussled leaves gracing the garden filled with recently planted trees.

I arrived 21 days ago, thinking I knew what to expect but not really sure. The apartment was very small but big enough for me, a single traveler not expecting company.

I had grown to appreciate this lovely garden view observed from the third floor that separated me from the beautiful old Parisian architecture of Mansard rooftops - known as the French roof with four-sided gambrel style and characterized by the graceful slope resting on top of dormer windows I have admired for many years. To me, a true reflection of romance centuries old.

My view of the beautiful garden and mysterious white slabs situated on top of the ground, just beyond the hedge that visually separated us, seemed to be haunted.

I can’t explain it but I felt it. I had seen photos of this place and to me it felt ominous.

I’ve always been sensitive to death and spirits from beyond, had many psychic dreams as a child. Childhood friends who passed would visit my dreams to say goodbye.

It was a personality trait that really bothered my mother who always reckoned it with my being evil.

But, she was mistaken because they were always sweet and wonderful visits from friends I loved who were on their way into another realm of their spiritual journey.

And so, it shall come to pass that this, too -  trip to Paris - is becoming another chapter in my own spiritual journey.

I can’t explain why I felt sadness, horror and death but when I arrived in Paris and checked into this rental, the feeling was overwhelmingly strong

I felt unable to ground myself; felt like screaming and crying; I was emotionally wrought with urges to which I refused to surrender.

While seated on the click-clack that morning, not unlike today, watching dancing leaves on green trees behind the white wall as they gently swayed in undulated motions, I noticed the wall.

I mean, I really saw it for the first time.

Something was written across the top in strong black letters and underneath, in smaller letters, were columns of - unreadable from my room - but definitely printed words of some kind.

It was then I knew.

Suddenly, skies turned dark, leaves on the trees fluttered in fervor and a breeze coming over the balcony through my open door grew cold and sent me into a shiver.

It was as though I had arrived at my destination.

This was the meaning for my trip to Paris.

I had arrived.

Days passed.

I learned more.

My life as I know it changed.

After I began to organize this international exhibition and began dodging doubt I posted this question on my Facebook page.

Here is the question and the Answer from a a kind and generous Facebook friend.

QUESTION:
Okay so, let’s say, as an artist, you are motivated.

Not simply motivated. You’re on fire with enthusiasm for this project that hit you like a ton of bricks.

POW !! And totally out of nowhere.

Let us also say the subject matter has been covered a million ways by every angle imaginable. But, those interpretations are not your vision whereas, this project is totally unique to your abilities to bring it to life from a fresh perspective.

What if others say, “that’s been done too many times already” OR “politically, this is not a good time for that”.

Do you just throw caution to the wind, ignore the advice and comments and proceed with gusto?

I ask myself, there must be a million paintings of a blue cornflower but if I paint one will it not be loved?  If some don’t care for it but a few love it, I should,do it for the few who do.

If for no one else, shouldn’t I do it for myself.

ANSWER

From from Facebook friend with much appreciation.
Here is his ANSWER:
"I think all true artists have a unique vision.  It may be influenced by others but it is theirs alone.  Create what you feel.  Paint what inspires you.  Even if you paint the same subject every day, each one will be unique.  Some may criticize you but that is the purpose of critics just as it is the purpose of artists to create."

THIS IS A “WORK IN PROGRESS PAGE” - UNEDITED AND THE BASE FOR IDEAS AND DEVELOPMENT - YOUR VISIT IS WELCOME

My thought process has bounced around many ideas for this creative project and it will be one of continuing change but one that will serve as a reminder to all participants and viewers of our responsibility to take care of ourselves and one another.

I want this to hold an experience for everyone, not overwhelming but quiet, peaceful and respectful.

There will be many exhibitions planned for galleries and museums in different countries that will include works of art from EVERY generation and EVERY artistic medium. These will be simple and easily installed for maximum exposure.  Each will last a certain amount of time - 21 days right now is the plan - and then shifts to another presentation featuring another art form.

Although many art forms will be represented, they will all include a blue cornflower. All art forms will be presented in black and white except for a blue cornflower. Flower seeds will be distributed and everyone on earth will be encouraged to plant a seed and grow a flower.

May the planting of seeds increase the desire for every heart on this planet to protect the fragile connection humanity has and enlighten us an individuals toward kindness and understanding.

Everyone is invited to participate.  Small art exhibits will take place featuring identical media: example: small scale so it can easily be shipped to different locations. All art will include a blue cornflower.

PAINTINGS - in black and white will include a blue flower or flowers

MINI PRINTS - black and white with a blue cornflower

DANCERS - in black and white with one blue cornflower

PHOTOGRAPHY - all the same size in black and white of any wholesome subject will be displayed over a wall of blue.

SCULPTURE - small shippable pieces to be displayed against cornflower blue background for three weeks in different locations.

MUSIC - featuring songs that lift and encourage the human heart.

Competitions will take place every three weeks, winners chosen by a panel, the. The next three weeks, another showing of new art by other artists. All works fill be for sale, a percentage will be held to cover costs of the shows.

When there is a sale at any of the exhibit venues, a card detailing one of the 4000 children will be included. Each card will have a few Blue Cornflower seeds for planting in memory of each of these children.

In other words, you may exhibit in any category as often as you wish and are encouraged to do so.

There will be an online exhibition that will rotate every 21 days. Small gatherings to encourage creativity, participation and the experience of being welcome and accepted for exactly who you are - warts and all.

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE POLITICAL

IT IS TO ENCOURAGE ACCEPTANCE WITHIN YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU ARE, UNIQUE AMONG ALL OTHERS?

These exhibitions are not to continue to talk about the murder of these children but instead to honor them in death as they were not honored in life as we honor ourselves and others.

WHY Blindfold Press? Because it’s time to take the blindfold off and remember.

I have researched the placement of stones in the courtyard of the memorial for these children in Paris 15th where they were taken, loaded on buses and hauled off to the holding station north of Paris to be shipped to Auschwitz and murdered by the Nazi.

I found this Menorah and have surmised the stones mounted in earth within the memorial represent candles whose flames were snuffed out.

For me anyway, this is their meaning.
